Next week Marion will be observing Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985. We are going to honor this special week with a few little activities:
Oct. 25-28 – Dress-up Days
Oct. 25 – Resource Officer Hendrix and Student Advisor Yusella will be stopping by classrooms to deliver red ribbons and visit with the older grades about drug use/peer pressure.
A Pledge banner will be hung in the lunchroom for students to sign to be “drug free.”
Guidance lessons for the week for Fourth Grade and up will be geared toward peer pressure or drug-related discussions.
