School Board petitions are due to the Business Manager office on Friday, February 23rd by 5:00 pm. The Business Manager will be out of the office all day on Tuesday, February 20th.

UNOFFICIAL Region 4B GBB seedings as of Friday morning. Official brackets will be sent out after tonight's games. As of now, the Bearcats will play at Scotland on Monday, Feb. 19 at 7 pm. Admission is set by the SDHSAA: Adults $6 and Students $4.

The Bearcat Varsity Boys Basketball team will travel to Scotland on Saturday to participate in the Great Plains Conference Classic. The Bearcats will play Avon at 12:30. Below is a link to the livestream; it is a Pay-Per-View Link that costs $8. This helps cover costs associated with the event. Once you pay the $8 you will be able to watch all of the conference classic games scheduled for the day. Gate admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students. Conference passes will not be accepted as this is a fundraiser to cover costs of this event and other conference activities.

In preschool, they have been studying about animals. This week they were talking about which animals make good pets, and what pets need to live. Yesterday the preschool class read the story, “ Gilbert goldfish wants a pet,” and then each student got to adopt their own goldfish.

On January 28th, Bearcat Cheerleaders held JR Bearcat camp for 24 JR Cheerleaders ranging from Preschool – 5th grade and 15 JH & Varsity Bearcat Cheerleaders. We enjoyed an indoor picnic, learned sideline cheers, had a special guest the Bearcat and learned a new dance to “Happy Dance” by Mercy Me. The dance was performed at halftime of the Marion/Freeman Academy vs Viborg/Hurley game on February 2nd.

The Marion FCCLA will offer Valentine's Day flowers, balloons, pop, and candy. Orders need to be sent to the school by February 9. All orders will be delivered by 3 pm on Valentine's Day.

The Freeman Academy/Marion Bearcats Boys Basketball team will host Viborg-Hurley on Friday, February 2nd in Marion. A "C" game will tip at 5 pm. Followed by JV at 6:15 and Varsity immediately after.
The Bearcats will travel to Flandreau Indian for a Basketball Double Header on Saturday, February 3rd. This will be Varsity Girls and Boys only (NO JV Games). Varsity Girls will play at 4 and Varsity Boys will follow.

Due to sickness within the team, the Junior High Boys Basketball team will not travel to Centerville to play in the Great Plains Conference Tournament on Saturday. Players should hand their jersey to Coach Shape on Monday.
