Good morning, Marion Families,
We have a few important reminders for this week:
1.Picture Retakes: Tomorrow, September 25th, we will have retake pictures. If your child needs a retake or didn’t take pictures at the open house, please let their teacher know. We’ll also be taking Fall sports pictures on the same day.
2.Pep Band Concert: On Thursday, September 26th, the Marion Pep Band will host a concert at Hieb Memorial Park starting at 7:00 PM. They will be selling pop floats for $2 each. We encourage everyone to come out and support our Pep Band!
3.Help Day: On Friday, September 27th, from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Help Day will be held for all students. Any middle school and high school students who are on the missing assignments list are required to attend until all missing work is completed. If students cannot attend, they will need to stay after school the following week for 3 hours to catch up.
You can help keep track of your child's assignments by checking in with them each night or using the parent portal.

The Freeman Academy/Marion Bearcats Volleyball Team travels to Rutland to take on Oldham-Ramona-Rutland. JV will start at 6:00 with Varsity to start around 7:15.

The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive today at the Marion School in the new gym, there are plenty of openings from 1:00pm-6:00pm, walk-ins welcome! Come help save lives! Thank you!!
The soccer team had a successful trip out to western SD. On Friday they beat Hot Springs, 3-1, and on Saturday they tied Custer, 1-1. The Bobcats are currently ranked 4th in Class A with 5 wins, 3 ties, and 1 loss.

Marion students and staff culminated a fun homecoming week with a parade on Friday and wins from both the soccer team (3-1 win over Hot Springs) and the football team (68-40 win over Gayville-Volin).

We are thrilled to announce that Marions’ Homecoming Parade will be held on Friday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for us all to come together and celebrate our community spirit.
For those interested in participating with a float, please contact Amanda Feilmeier by Thursday at noon. You can reach her at 605-648-3615 ext. 0 or via email at amanda.feilmeier@k12.sd.us. Amanda will provide you with a line-up number and additional details. Please note that the parade line-up will begin at 10:30 a.m., so plan to arrive early.
To ensure the safety of all participants, including students, staff, and floats, we ask everyone to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Floats should be decorated and ready by 10:30 a.m. to avoid last-minute adjustments.
- Ensure that all floats are securely constructed and do not pose a hazard to participants or spectators.
- Maintain a safe distance from other floats and spectators during the parade.
-Please keep an eye out for students during line-up and spectators during the parade, especially if you are handing out candy.

The Marion Strength Program is selling 50/50 raffle tickets with the winner to be selected after the third quarter of the football game in Marion of Friday September 13th. All proceeds will go to improving the weight room. Tickets can be purchased at the front office Monday September 9th - Thursday September 12th from 8-4 or Friday night during the football game.
