On behalf of the entire 3rd-grade class at Marion School, we want to extend our gratitude for the fantastic tour last week at the Marion Post Office and for the thoughtful packages we received. It was such a memorable experience for all of us, and we truly appreciate the time and effort you put into making it special. Thank you for your generosity and for sparking our curiosity with your dedication to our community!
Due to snowfall received in Freeman and the forecast for the weekend; we will postpone our softball game scheduled for Monday, April 1st vs. Avon.
Jamie Buteyn from the Turner County Sheriff's Office recently visited Marion's 9th grade Health class. Before the visit, the students prepared a list of questions covering topics such as tobacco, alcohol, drugs, mental health, penalties for breaking the law, and stories of the job, all relevant to the material covered in class.
We want to extend our sincere gratitude to Jamie Buteyn and the Sheriff's Office for taking the time to engage with our students and provide valuable insights. The students truly appreciated the opportunity to learn from a member of law enforcement and gain a deeper understanding of these important topics.
Thank you again to the Turner County Sheriff's Office for their ongoing support of our school community.
Geometry learned about circles and did a project making stained glass. They had to come up with a theme and put four things on their circle that they learned about circles or in Geometry this year.
Algebra 1 learned about quadratics and did a project making an Angry Birds board. They had to make four equations and find the path of the bird to see whether they would hit the pigs on their boards or not.
Both projects are displayed outside of the high school math room on the stairs if you want to take a closer look at them!
We're excited to announce that the Winter Sports Banquet is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 2, at 6:30 PM in the Marion School Gym.
Here's what you need to know:
Location: Marion School Gym
Time: 6:30 PM
Dinner: Please bring the following based on your grade level:
Seniors, Sophomores, and 8th graders: Main dish
Juniors, Freshman, 7th graders, and 6th (graders who played on the Junior High team): Salad or dessert
Schedule: Dinner will start promptly at 6:30 PM, followed by awards at 7:00 PM.
Provided: Dinnerware and drinks will be provided.

Good morning, after assessment of the county roads, blowing/drifting snow, and ice covered surfaces, the Marion School will be CLOSED today, Tuesday, March 26th. This is not an easy decision but want to ensure the safety of all students and staff as it pertains to traveling today. The Marion’s 3rd Grade class got to head to the Post Office yesterday! They delivered their letters that they wrote to different 3rd grade classrooms around the United States! They also got a tour around the post office and a chance to ask questions.
Hopefully they hear back from other 3rd Graders their age!

Due to an increase in participation, the Bearcat Golf Team is looking for donations of golf clubs and/or golf bags for the upcoming golf season. The Marion Strength Program, led by Mr. Jacob VonBerge, meets before school with a mission to cultivate a supportive and dynamic environment where students challenge and uplift one another while striving for continuous improvement, enhanced strength, and increased speed. To further help internally motivate students a Strength Club Board has been implemented to inspire and acknowledge individuals dedicated to ongoing progress.
To secure a recognition on the Club Board, students meticulously record their maximum lifts in three key exercises: bench press, squat, and deadlift. The cumulative total of these lifts determines their eligibility for recognition. With separate classes tailored to boys and girls, the program accommodates diverse strength levels and aspirations. Boys' classes span from 500 to 1,000 pounds, while girls' classes range from 400 to 900 pounds.
When students achieve a place on the Club Board or advance based on their lifting achievements, they are rewarded with a T-shirt, acknowledging their remarkable progress. The Marion School District extends extreme gratitude to Nugen Energy for generously sponsoring the Club Board and facilitating the provision of recognition shirts. Since its inception in 2023, the Marion Strength Program has yielded remarkable outcomes for both students and athletes alike.
This success story owes much to the invaluable support of our donors, whose contributions have helped fund the new equipment for our weight room. To our generous donors, we extend our sincerest appreciation and gratitude for their pivotal role in nurturing the growth and efficacy of our program, students, and school!
