Good evening, as I’ve been looking at some different weather models/forecasts, there is a chance that both the air temperature and wind chills for tomorrow could be colder than today. Because if this, the Marion School will start 2 hours late (10 a.m.) tomorrow. Breakfast and buses will run 2 hours later than a “normal” day. Please dress your children prepared for these food temps. Thank you and we’ll see everyone at 10.

The student and community performance of the one-act play, "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane," has been rescheduled from Thursday, January 23rd, to Wednesday, January 29th at 2:45pm in the Old Gym.

Good morning and happy Monday! The Marion School District is truly grateful for the incredible support we receive year-round from our local businesses and community members—it means so much to us! Last Friday evening, our staff came together for a holiday outing at Dave and Buster’s in Sioux Falls, enjoying a fantastic night of connection and camaraderie. We’d like to extend a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the local and surrounding businesses for their generosity in donating amazing gifts and prizes for the event. Your support makes a meaningful difference—thank you, TO ALL, for uplifting our school, students, staff, and community!

The Marion School had a fun-filled week of learning, movies, and crafts! On Friday, all the elementary students gathered to watch a Christmas movie, enjoying popcorn, blankets, and pillows. The Grinch even made a special appearance in the morning to read a story to the students who were excited to meet him. The week wrapped up with festive winter classroom parties. The Marion School District wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

On Friday, the Kindness Committee came up with a wonderful idea to host a breakfast potluck. There was an amazing variety of dishes for the staff to enjoy, all while spending quality time together. A heartfelt thank you to the Kindness Committee for making everyone feel appreciated and loved! Keep up the positivity and kindness—it's truly contagious

Good afternoon, feel free to check out the latest Marion Minute (https://youtu.be/c-iWGhp8WNA). I apologize that it's longer than usual (20 minutes is by far the longest one to date) but I am striving to communicate some information at the end regarding Governor Noem's budget address and some concerns regarding her proposed "Education Savings Accounts" (which is a fancy name for Vouchers). This portion starts at around the 9:15 time...I urge you to educate yourself on this proposal and the negative impacts it has on public education. Please visit https://www.marion.k12.sd.us/o/mps/page/opposition-to-publicly-funded-vouchers for more information on all of this. To view the Governor's full budget of additions and cuts, all $72-million(ish) dollars, please go here: https://bfm.sd.gov/budget/budgets.html

🔬 8th Grade Science Today! 🌟
We explored Acids & Bases!
🔹 Acids (like lemon juice 🍋) release hydrogen ions and have a pH less than 7. They turn blue litmus paper red. 🔹 Bases (like soap 🧼) release hydroxide ions and have a pH greater than 7. They turn red litmus paper blue.
We also learned about the pH scale and neutralization (where acids & bases react to form water and salt).
Science is awesome! 😃
